During ascension, the type of crystal used will determine the essence of the champion. For example, a life crystal will create a life Challenger. This will affect the Chamion's Fury of the Titans and the type of essence that character will accumulate. 

Champions may gain parts that match their essence, the more prongs the consumed crystal has the higher chance of obtaining more matching parts and producing a Challanger with higher purity.
